PROJECT VISION

A space that caters to comfortable daily use and expands to cater to the Kumbh is the challenge here. Considerations in the design are spiritual links with Chandi Mandir above, a pontoon link to Har ki Paudi during the Mela, the fast flowing Neel Dhara (Ganga). Designed with a sensitive approach towards bathing and cremation rituals, Chandi Ghat attempts to reinforce the research on community centric design. Ghats for bathing and cremation offer a safe, hygienic and contextual access to the holy waters. Using nuances of steps, platforms, Chattris, player halls, defined circulation distinct spaces of various scales have been crafted.
